I enjoyed reading your review about inclusive education. The part of the review that caught my attention was with regards to having a mission statement and the impact that is has on a school and on how teachers view their role and the role of the school. The school I just finished at for my second field placement placed a very large focus on their mission statement and motto. In the hallway my classroom was located in, there was a large sign with the mission statement printed on it. Additionally, every morning after announcements and prayer (it was a Catholic school), the mission statement was read. I found over the course of the semester that the staff and students really took pride in this statement and the meaning it had. I believe that having a mission statement really impacts the culture of a school and I definitely believe, as it was suggested in the article you read, that it can have an impact on inclusion if that component is touched on in the statement.
